Don't let teachers have all the fun with the annual Tacky Sweater Contest!
Here's a way for you to design your very own TACKY SWEATER. Choose any of the 12 designs and give it your tackiest touch.
We look forward to seeing your creations.
In January 2018, we will take a closer look at books - specifically the parts of a book and the jobs of author, illustrator and publisher in making the idea of a book become something tangible.
Our theme for this activity will be: all things winter
Shared Reading: Selections by Robert Sabuda, Jan Brett, Caralyn Buehner
This week we'll be taking a look at toys and perhaps making some toys of our own (SLIME????).
Shared Reading: Too Many Toys or The Trouble with Toys or Home Alone
Video: How Toys are Made: Hasbro Lego
Video: How Food is Made: Gingerbread House Chocolate Coins
Time's 100 Greatest Toys of All Time (organized by decade - remember that what was acceptable as a toy back in the day might not be appropriate as a child's toy in 2017.)
Most Influential Toys of All Time (Do you agree with this list?)
Shared Reading: Tumble Books Seasonal Playlist (Mia & Nutcracker Ballet, Winter is the Warmest Season, Olive the Other Reindeer, Papa's Latkes)
Telling Time Review (Flocabulary - Time to 5 minute song) Practice with individual clock faces
Video: How Cuckoo Clocks are Made
Design your own Cuckoo Clock Activity or Telling Time to 5 minute sheets while checking out
A word about SLIME: Not all classes will be able to participate in the SLIME making activity over the next two weeks. Performance practice and field trips are one reason. Class size is another. Unfortunately, some of you did not earn slime due to behavior during library enrichment over the past two weeks.
